World Homeless Week is held in October each year to bring awareness to homelessness in England, and to raise the necessary funds to provide those individuals with life-changing grants. In 2023, World Homeless Week runs from 8-15th October, encapsulating World Homeless Day on the 10th.
As a Christian charity that has been supporting homeless individuals for nearly 40 years, World Homeless Week has raised thousands of pounds in donations from churches up and down the country.
These donations have translated into more than 3,000 people receiving tailored grants each year.
Being a small charity enables us to personally know the names and circumstances of every person that benefits from our grants, and to address their most critical needs.
Whether it’s funding new ID to access services, providing new clothes after years of homelessness, or even furnishing a home when they move into one, we ensure our grants are as unique as the individuals we serve.
What happens during World Homeless Week 2023?
Over the past three years, we’ve called on individuals and churches to mark World Homeless Week.
Churches can get involved by; showcasing relevant posters and materials, initiating discussions on homelessness and poverty, advocating charitable giving, and conducting a special service on one of the two Sundays within the week.
This year, our free pack for churches contains posters, leaflets, donation forms, activities and a customisable Order of Service kindly prepared this year by Ven Simon Baker.
