What we do
We believe that grants can make a big impact. We provide life-changing support to homeless people across England.
Our grants help people take the next step on their journey from being homeless to stable, independent living.

Support for people who are homeless
Every person experiencing homelessness has their own needs, struggles, and stories, so our grants are designed to reflect this reality. We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, our grants are tailored to the individual circumstances of each person, ensuring that the support provided is truly impactful.
Working in partnership with homelessness schemes
We work with homelessness schemes and services to ensure that the grants provided are necessary and needed. Read more about our partnerships.
Grants for homeless individuals
We provide solo grants and grants for groups within homeless schemes (more below).
Grants for individuals of up to £200 are tailored to meet the needs of that person at that moment in time.
A personalised grant can typically fund:
Clothing and footwear – Warm clothing, shoes, and work attire to help people regain confidence and self-esteem.
Replacement ID and documents – Critical paperwork needed to access work, housing, and other services.
Travel costs – Funding for essential travel to job interviews, medical appointments, or reconnecting with family and support networks.
Education and training – Grants to support people in gaining the skills and qualifications needed to rebuild their lives.
Technology – Mobile phones, data and laptops can be crucial for staying in touch with support services, accessing therapy, or education.
Hobbies and interests – Materials for hobbies can lead to improved mental health, stability and self-worth.
Basic household items – Beds, bedding, kitchen appliances, curtains, and cooking equipment to turn empty properties into real homes.

Help when mainstream support falls short
While government benefits provide basic financial support, they rarely stretch to cover all the essentials needed for a stable, independent life.
Our grants step in to fill these gaps – providing essentials that make a house a home, covering emergency costs, supporting training for new careers, or helping people return to education – areas where mainstream support often falls short.
Additionally, we also support people who have no immediate access to benefits, including those awaiting decisions on their immigration status, those without essential identification, or individuals who have been sanctioned for missing appointments, often for unavoidable reasons like hospital stays. In these situations, our grants can provide a critical safety net when other forms of support are unavailable.
Grants for groups
In addition to individual grants, we also fund group activities aimed at building community, developing life skills, and improving mental resilience. This includes:
Cooking and nutrition sessions: helping people learn to cook healthy, affordable meals.
Skills and confidence workshops: providing training in budgeting and digital skills to boost self-reliance.
Mental health and wellbeing support: funding music and sports therapy sessions, days out and recreational items within schemes.
Real impact, real lives
Every grant we provide makes a tangible difference – whether it’s helping a young person secure work, a family move into a stable home, or a veteran rebuild their life. Our impact is measured not just in numbers, but in the real lives transformed through our work.
