Joseph came to Mike Jackson House, a scheme for homeless veterans, in May. He was feeling lost following a relationship breakdown and a long period of sofa surfing.
Joseph decided to look for a new job, and was able to apply for a Security Industry Authority (SIA) door supervisor qualification. However, he couldn’t afford to pay for the licence itself, which he needed to find employment.
Thanks to funding from Church Housing Trust, he has now received his badge and has been offered a job as a member of security at the London Victoria passport office.
Joseph is really pleased that he is now able to provide for his children, and is looking to move out of Mike Jackson House and regain his independence.
He says, “I am really grateful to Church Housing Trust for helping me to get my SIA badge. I am over the moon that I have it.
“Without the help of the Trust I feel like I’d be in a dead-end situation and I wouldn’t be able to do the job that I want to do. It makes me really happy that there is support to help people like me; people that are in hardship.”
