We want to wish everyone a very Happy Easter from all of us at Church Housing Trust!
Thanks to donations we’ve funded a couple of get-togethers and Easter egg hunts over the weekend.
Meals and games are a great way for formerly homeless people to build a sense of community, as well as further develop skills such as cooking and planning.
A support worker at a project for homeless families told us that: “We want to give our customers and their children an Easter egg each, and an egg hunt, and also a roast dinner on Easter Sunday. They may not get an Easter egg or any other celebrations.”
Another homelessness scheme has joined up with a local church group for a whole weekend of activities. One staff member explained: “An Easter celebration is part of the culture and diversity at this scheme. It gives the residents opportunities to get involved in cooking and crafts.”
Funding will be used for Easter egg painting, Good Friday cake baking and cooking an Easter Monday meal.
It all sounds egg-cellent!
