Your funding meant that new mums and their babies had a special Christmas party at a scheme we support in Ipswich.
This time of year is difficult for these young mums, who often have no support network of friends or family, and don’t have much money to buy presents for their children. For some of these homeless families, this will be the only present they receive, and their only celebration.
The mums were offered a mini beauty treatment, including some stylish manicures to show off over the festive season. There were also activities throughout the day, a buffet lunch, and presents for all the children. Everyone that attended enjoyed themselves.
A story from one of the staff summed up the day’s Christmas magic:
“Our caretaker Terry kindly volunteered to dress up as Father Christmas to hand out the presents.
“One little girl was extremely nervous and a bit tearful about meeting Father Christmas and when he came in was very reluctant to go and get her present.
“After some reassurance from her mum and Father Christmas, she eventually felt confident enough to go and accept the present.
“After Father Christmas said goodbye and left, Terry came back into the playroom.
“She ran up to him really, really excited to inform him that he had missed Father Christmas visiting.”
A huge thank you to everyone who made the day possible.
