Church Homeless Charity is very excited to be the charity of the year for advertising firm Kinetic, who are fundraising in what will be the charity’s first overseas sporting challenge.
Kinetic are taking on iconic Belgian cycling challenge Liege-Bastogne-Liege, also known as ‘La Doyenne’, to raise funds for Church Homeless Charity They will cycle the 240km route, with 3,800m of climbing, in mid-September.
This will be Kinetic’s eighth annual bike ride for charity. They choose to support a different deserving cause each year, and felt that our work helping people who have experienced homelessness fit the bill perfectly.
Operations Director Michael Skorjanec is organising the ride this year. “We try and do something that professional cyclists would,” he explains. “We take two days to cycle what they would do in one day, and choose a route that is accessible, but challenging.”
Our work supporting people out of homelessness was understandably important to many of Kinetic’s staff, and 42 riders of all different abilities are taking part. “We have some very good riders, and some novices. It’s the highest number of participants we’ve ever had.”
Michael’s message to the team is: “Make an effort; you’re raising for a fantastic cause!”
“Fingers crossed it will be the highest we ever raise,” he adds. “There are some amazing people who really have the bit between their teeth.” But even if someone raises only £5 or £10, their hard work will help to change lives.

The Church Homeless Charity team sadly won’t be joining Kinetic in Belgium but will keep an eye on the weather, and the team’s Twitter feed, to ensure that they are safe and in good spirits. Please remind them what a great cause they are riding for, and support them on their journey, by tweeting @ChurchHousing and @KineticWWUK using #KineticRiders.
In their year supporting Church Homeless Charity, Kinetic have already raised funds with a bingo evening and refurbished the communal area at a Westminster scheme. We wish them the best of luck on this next fundraising adventure!
