At Church Homeless Charity, we believe that every church has a vital role in addressing homelessness. Whether by raising awareness, offering practical support, or advocating for change, your involvement can bring hope to those in need this Lent.

How we can help your church

We want to equip and empower your church to support homeless individuals and raise vital funds for our work – this Lent and beyond.

“Lent invites us to engage in a number of weeks of deeper reflection – on ourselves and on the world. The things that we do well and the things that we don’t do.

It invites us to look more closely at Scripture and to see how Jesus himself reaches out to those who are marginalised and on the edge of society.”

Rev’d Canon Simon Baker. Trustee.

Why your support matters

Church Homeless Charity has deep roots within the Christian community. Many of our loyal donors first heard about our work at their church.

The church-going community is fundamental to our work – we can support hundreds more individuals in need thanks to fundraising within churches across the country.

It is important to note that we don’t receive funding from the Church of England – we are an independent charity. Neither do we receive funding from the government, lottery, or other large grant-giving organisations.

Therefore, our work relies on the generosity of individuals and churches who share our passion for supporting those with very little.

Let’s partner together

We warmly invite you to connect with us. Share your challenges, triumphs, and ideas for how we can better support your church’s mission to care for those experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless.

Every congregation includes people touched by homelessness, whether directly or through someone they know.

Together, we can offer hope, practical support, and a brighter future for those on the margins.

‘I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat. I was thirsty, and you gave me something to drink. I was a stranger, and you took me into your home.’

Matthew 25:35

Prayer

“Even if you think you can’t do very much to help homeless people, you can pray. And by praying, your mind is enlarged. Then you begin, perhaps, to be the kind of person who help break stigmas and spread awareness among others.

When we think about sin, we often think that it’s an individual thing, the things I’ve got wrong, the things that I want to say sorry for. But sin is also about the faults and wrongs in our wider society.

And there are many things we can look at, and one of them, of course, is homelessness, people who no longer have a home or the basics in life.

That’s a sin in our society, and it needs not just thinking about and praying about, but a practical response as well.

The more we learn, the more we think, the more we pray, the better our practical response will be.”

Rev’d Canon Simon Baker

prayer ideas

‘This is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.’

1 John 5:14-15
