Support from trusts and foundations
Charitable trusts and foundations play a vital role in enabling Church Homeless Charity to provide direct, practical support to people experiencing homelessness across England.
Each year, the demand for our grants increases as more people face homelessness and housing insecurity.
Support from trusts and foundations allows us to meet that growing need and extend our reach to more people and places.
What your funding enables
We provide needs-led grants to individuals living in supported housing schemes. These small grants typically range from £50 to £250 per person and are designed to address gaps not covered by statutory services. And we also support schemes with grants for recreational items, day trips etc to help with the physical and mental wellbeing of residents.
Examples include:
- Resettlement grants to help someone move into a new home (e.g. a bed, mattress, kettle, or pans).
- Emergency assistance with essentials like food, toiletries, or appropriate clothing after a crisis.
- Access to education, training, and employment, including course fees, tools, or travel costs.
- Therapeutic or wellbeing support, such as gym passes, art materials, or counselling sessions.
- Support for recovery from addiction or trauma, such as clothing for detox admission or transport to group sessions.
- These interventions are often low-cost but high-impact – helping individuals regain stability, restore confidence, and rebuild their lives.
Let’s work together
We would be delighted to discuss how your trust or foundation could support our work, either nationally or in a region of particular interest to you.

Our delivery model
We work with over 130 registered homelessness schemes across England. Support workers within these schemes apply for grants on behalf of individuals they are supporting.
Each application is assessed individually by our team, ensuring that funds are used effectively and equitably. We monitor all grants and require feedback on how each has helped the recipient. This enables us to report back to funders with clear data, stories of impact, and tailored evaluation as required.
We are able to:
- Provide regional or thematic impact data, aligning with your funding priorities
- Develop bespoke funding proposals around areas such as youth homelessness, veterans, domestic abuse survivors, or mental health
- Offer named grant programmes or restricted funds if desired
- Supply regular reporting including case studies, financial breakdowns, and measurable outcomes
Why fund with us?
We receive no direct funding from the Church of England, the Government, the National Lottery, or any other major funding body. Every grant we award is made possible through voluntary income – and your support helps us provide consistent, reliable funding to homelessness schemes across England.
Our size (five staff members) means that we are agile, responsive, and cost-effective. We stretch every pound, with a low administrative overhead and a high proportion of income going directly to beneficiaries.
We are experienced in working with trusts both large and small, and welcome multi-year partnerships, project-specific grants, or support with unrestricted funding – all of which help us to plan for the future and respond to growing needs.
